memory boost

Can I use a Maxtor 300 external Hard drive for Memory Boost?
"Windows Vista introduces a new concept in adding memory to a system. Windows ReadyBoost lets users use a removable flash memory device, such as a USB thumb drive, to improve system performance without opening the box."

Flash memory only. An external hard drive would detract from performance, not add to it.

No, the only device supported currently in Windows Vista for Memory BOOST is USB 2.0 "Flash Drives". It is posted on the Vista website somewhere, but they also say they might include other "flash" media later on. Which would be great if I could use my 2gb SD cards. Hope this helps.

well it looks like its no any type of usb 2.0 flash drive ,i connect my 512mb sandisk usb 2.0, and even that the system prompt to use it as a sytem performace boost,when you accept,it says that this type of flash does not qualify.....maybe in the future they are going to realese some type of new flash drive that supports that vista feature :(
